Imago Dei Middle School

Collective Continuance Program
Food Access Internship

Imago Dei Middle School (IDMS) is a local non-profit middle school (grade 5-8) located in downtown Tucson that offers our school’s community access to an on-campus Family Pantry and a Farm to School Program. Students and families alike have the opportunity to address their immediate food needs and learn desert gardening techniques and cooking skills to bolster their long-term resiliency. IDMS receives food donations from various local sources and leases its own large-scale plot at Las Milpitas Farm. Our intern will engage in many facets of food pathways, i.e. growing, cooking, distribution and education to name just a few. Our intern would assist the Pantry Coordinator with supply runs, organizing donations and distributing food boxes. They would also support the Farm to School program by helping maintain the on-campus alley garden and Las Milpitas plot. Opportunity will also be available to assist with garden and culinary classes plus chaperone various field trips. Our intern will need and grow skills in self-governance, effective communication, community networking, organization, and willingness to learn and adapt.
